My First Tarot Card Reading – Ft. Modern Mystic Mother

“Divination is the quest to understand more about the past, present, and future. In other words, Tarot readings are an attempt to understand ourselves better and discover how we might live better in the future.” ― Theresa Francis-Cheun

Hello Wolf Cubs,

Today’s post is going to be unique in the sense that it’s something I’ve never even experienced, up until a few days ago. I had begun speaking with a very interesting, unique and unusual blogger, Kalliope of Modern Mystic Mother. We’ve become friends in the past week, mainly because we both view writing/blogging as a form of expression, which shouldn’t be entirely filtered from our truth. I love raw and honest posts, including posts that have to do with the unsavory things in life, because hey! – They’re a part of life too you know. Anger, Sadness, Mistakes that we’ve made. Etc.

Yet, there are a few judgmental people out there, who I’ve come across, just waiting to jump down another’s throat because that level of honesty scares them. Perhaps they are contemptuous because they believe that they stand on a moral high ground, but I think it’s far more likely that they just live their lives hiding from their own flaws and their own three-dimensional emotions. It’s often easier to throw punches at another then to take an honest and hard look at your own life, and to realize your own imperfections.

Anyways, I digress – After speaking with Kalliope for a while about life and such, she was kind enough to offer me a Tarot card reading from her little spot across the pond, in Australia. Naturally, I accepted. I would like to share the results of my Tarot card reading with you now.

The Tarot Card Reading

Kalliope: Relationships and friendships, romance, family. Your interactions with people, particularly of the social nature, that’s what’s at the forefront of your life at the moment.
you’re haunted by the past. Sleepless, or troubled dreams; A feeling of being trapped, but that’s all just an illusion you place before your mind.

You are at the end of a chapter, about to embark on the final leg of some narrative. You are about to enter the third act. You will have recently met someone who is going to be your companion through this trial. You will transcend the veil of death – (this is metaphorical!!!) that death part. you’re going to get some of that healing water you were seeking.

…The healing mysteries, this is going to be good for you. You’ll get where you want to go, however, you’ll have to prove your worth if you are going to leave with the treasure.

So many cups and their agents, but you wont find the holy grail here.

(Shit, i mixed up the cards. Ah well. It’s either in the mental or physical realms where you will find your cup. you just need to go through all this crap to be able to recognize it when it does come up.)

Anyways, I want to say that… Maybe… You’ll come across a force of some sort. Whether that will be a trial or an event or person who is a problem. I don’t know. Either way, it is going to be how well you overcome this force to determine your success. There are times when one needs to be like rock, and other times like water. Knowing when to stand your ground, and when to let stuff wash over you, or fall away.

Mathew: X.x (Dead eyes)

Kalliope: This revelation will essentially rip down the dark tower that you’ve built up in your heart.

Mathew: Wow

Kalliope: And, I’m smiling when that finally happens, because there you will find your healing. The healer will help you empty your cups, and she’ll cry with you. Then it’ll be up to you to discern where you go from there. because you will end this chapter with a choice of intentional direction.

The Afterthought

Well, as an outspoken skeptic of the mystic arts, I have to say that if this was all just a coincidence in the way that the cards were dealt – then it was a coincidence which mirrored my life pretty damn closely at the moment.

A chapter of my life has recently ended, and I am beginning a new stage in my life which is certain. Socializing in my life more is something that’s taken a greater priority for me recently, after having isolated myself for years and chopping people out. I’m finally in a stage of my life where I’m building something for myself rather than setting fire to the old. I’m not sure that I feel trapped at the moment, but I do realize that I am currently in a state of limbo, so perhaps this is it.

I do believe that I am currently undergoing healing and it feels good. There will always be obstacles and challenges which lay ahead, and I am prepared to meet each and every one of those, head on as they appear before me.

Knowing when to stay steadfast as a rock or allow things to flow over you like water, is generally good advice for life in general.

I’m so grateful for the witchy Kalliope to have given me a new experience and this reading really did mean a lot to me, even if it has not changed my skeptical mind. However, I do believe that there is truth in this reading and in the cards that have been drawn. If nothing else, it has encouraged me, and kept me motivated for the future and all of my obstacles that lie ahead.

Thank You!

I just want to extend a thank you to Kalli for the reading. Kalliope offers reading services through her blog Modern Mystic Mother. Yet, she is an interactive blogger and does more than just offers services for a fee. She shares her wild mind with the world and searches for the truth in all things. She also has another blog called The Cult of Kim.

  1. This was an interesting read. Thank you for sharing.
I have to admit, I’m a bit of a skeptic when it comes to mystic arts, but I have always found it fascinating nonetheless. I have never had a tarot card reading, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. That, & I’d like to have my palm read.

    1. I think its right to be a skeptic. If you just believe everything out right you’re going to get fooled a lot in life.

It’s still fun none the less and worth a shot at least once in your life!

I’d say I neither believe nor don’t believe. I straddle that grey area.

      Thanks for reading 😊

Would you ask something specific or just get a general reading?

  2. I had a tarot reading once and it wasn’t particularly enlightening. I’m definitely a skeptic, but whether it “works” or not, I think it’s something that can still have a lot of value in helping people reflect on themselves.
