I’ll Love You More Than You Could Ever Know

To say these words a million times,

Wouldn’t be enough to express my feelings –

Through any elegant prose or rhymes,

A tenderness, I feel for you, leaves me reeling.

You’re my heart and soul combined,

Outside my body, externally intertwined.

I love you more than the air I breathe,

When I’m gone, to you, my all, bequeathed.

The saddest part, if I were dying tomorrow,

Would be to look upon your face in sorrow,

I just want what’s best for you, forever.

Loving you, from near or far, wherever.

But, time is only something that we borrow.

For you, I weep with tears of joy,

You brighten me with smiles, so coy.

Before you, my happiness had not debuted.

When I tell you that I love you,

It’s nothing but my truth.

I had no idea what I might find,

In this world I felt so colorblind,

Before I met you at that tender time,

So tongue-tied, love expressed in pantomime.

I know I’d never let you go willingly,

Just the thought of not having you is killing me.

You’re my destiny.

You’re the best of me.

The stars have never shined so brightly without you.

I could never live without that truth,

Not now that I’ve had a taste.

All life, without you, would be waste.

You’re the best of a toxic world.

The mixture of my dreams, swirled,

Into one beautiful woman,

With a heart shining at a million lumens.

You make my shadows break,

In the wake, of every step you take.

No moonlit sky or beautiful landscape,

Could in the same way, quite penetrate,

This heart reserved for you,

And all those wonderful things you do.

Like a budding blossom, holding dear, a morning dew,

I draw my sustenance from you.

Perhaps you’re too humble to have connected,

The way my life has been affected,

By your quality and grace,

And your lingering taste,

That rests upon my lips,

And holds me firmly in your grips.

If there’s any one thing that you should know,

It’s that I love you more than I can really show,

I love you more eloquently than these words that flow,

I love you more than any letters could bestow.

I’d die for you to save your woes.

I’ll love you more than you could ever know.

  1. Very nice, Mathew!

I just have to ask, are you aware that ads pop up in the middle of your poems? It’s kind of distracting, just wonder if they could be formatted differently. At least they aren’t that gross one with the worm!!

    1. Thanks very much!

P.s. I reblogged your smidge of arrogance post on Scribbler’s Arena because I thought that was truly inspiring. I’ve beat myself down many times in the past to not be arrogant in the slightest because I had a father who was always overly arrogant and I hated that trait!

But you are right! A smidge of arrogance is needed to propel you forward and to believe that what you have to offer matters. I was really glad to have read that. Thank you 🙂

      1. Glad to be there and help out Mathew.
It’s hard to explain where this comes from without falling into sounding masonic, self-righteous or over-enthusiastically self-help.
Since coming upon WP (about 4 years ago) I have encountered so many folk obviously in deep with their writing, of whatever genre. These are ordinary folk, who simply have this muse which wants to sing out loud. And why shouldn’t they?
OK the genre may not be one I read, maybe the style doesn’t flow for me. So what ? They want to write and that is all I need to know. As long as they do not promote hate or bigotry they are writers and they must be supported.
They get published, they get likes, they get reblogs. That is cool, I celebrate that.
(Woe the snarker I find who tries and put the writer down because the snarker is on a kritik-sic- kick)
Getting published, noticed or anything associated is a hard ‘jag’, if I don’t get there I want someone else to.
(OK I’m stepping down from my lectern, before I fall off)

      2. Beautifully put and I entirely agree. I try to support everyone in their passions, but I will also air my opinions if I need to. Like you said, if it’s hateful or sexist or racist etc.

😀 I think the world needs more people like that though. Supporters! Positive supporters. Not hateful angry ones and overly critical snobbish prudes.

      3. Yeah the angry and overly critical snobbish prudes come in all shapes and sizes and surprisingly from all sides of the political spectrum too.
Just because someone is ‘radical’ or ‘liberal’ doesn’t mean they have a completely open mind…..
        Us humans eh?

  2. This melts my heart! So romantic ❤
If a man I love say this words
"You’re my heart and soul combined,
    Outside my body, externally intertwined"
I think, I'll slap his shoulder and hide from shyness. If he reads the whole poem, I honestly don't know what I'll do haha 😄
I'm easily embarrassed so even after being together with my husband since my teen and until now that we have a son, I still feel shy when he gets all romantic… okay… I'll stop before I start musing all over your comment page haha 😂

      1. I’m an introvert. But my husband is big extrovert who know no shame when it comes to his feelings. I can totally picture him doing embarrassing stuff like it’s most natural thing.
